In this tenure-track assistant professorship, you will advance climate research within the Department of Geography at GIUZ and contribute to teaching at Bachelor and Master levels. You will model and analyze spatio-temporal climate variability, integrate climate scenarios into adaptation work, and promote open, reproducible research practices. Responsibilites

  • Conduct and lead climate research focusing on present and future environments
  • Model and analyze spatio-temporal climate variability and uncertainties
  • Integrate climate model outputs and scenarios to inform adaptation strategies
  • Teach and develop curricula at Bachelor and Master levels in Geography and Earth Systems Science, in English and German
  • Supervise Master and PhD students and contribute to student mentoring
  • Engage in open and reproducible research practices and disseminate findings to policymakers and the public
  • Acquire competitive external funding and collaborate with university administration to support research and teaching
  • Contribute to university service and curriculum development at UZH
  • Participate in interdisciplinary and cross-functional collaborations across the faculty

Key requirements

  • Expertise at the intersection of climate research and geography
  • Experience with climate modelling and analysis of variability and uncertainties
  • Track record in research output and funding acquisition
  • Teaching experience at Bachelor and Master levels; mentoring of graduate students
  • Ability to communicate research to policymakers and the public
  • Willingness to teach in English and German (or to learn German
