In this role you contribute to advancing next-generation positioning and sensor fusion capabilities at a global scale. You will join a collaborative research team to solve real-world navigation challenges, leveraging cutting-edge datasets and hardware evaluation. You drive core algorithms and architectures that enable accurate positioning in complex environments, impacting global applications across GNSS, inertial, and vision/LiDAR sensors. This is an opportunity to work with leading researchers on transformative positioning technologies in Zürich.

Responsibilities
- Develop solutions for global positioning applications (PPP, DGNSS, RTK)
- Perform multi-sensor fusion using GNSS, inertial sensors, cameras, and LiDAR
- Design, evaluate, and improve sensor architectures and positioning algorithms
- Work with large-scale, worldwide sensor datasets
- Collaborate with researchers and engineers to tackle navigation and localization problems
- Evaluate new hardware platforms and integrate them into systems
Key requirements
- PhD with 5+ years of industry experience, or Master’s with 2+ years in Geomatics, Robotics, Computer Science, Physics, or related field
- Strong programming in C/C++ and Python
- Solid background in Precise GNSS and multi-sensor fusion
- Experience with Kalman filters, least-squares estimation, and sensor fusion algorithms
- Hands-on experience with PPP, DGNSS, and RTK positioning techniques
- Understanding of GNSS observation models (carrier phase, pseudorange, ambiguity resolution, cycle-slip detection)
- Knowledge of ionosphere estimation and antenna modelling (desirable)
- Experience evaluating new sensor hardware
- Publications in ION GNSS+, IEEE ICRA, or IEEE IROS are a plus
- Strong analytical mindset and interest in real-world challenges
