In this role you contribute to advancing next-generation positioning and sensor fusion capabilities at a global scale. You will join a collaborative research team to solve real-world navigation challenges, leveraging cutting-edge datasets and hardware evaluation. You drive core algorithms and architectures that enable accurate positioning in complex environments, impacting global applications across GNSS, inertial, and vision/LiDAR sensors. This is an opportunity to work with leading researchers on transformative positioning technologies in Zürich.

Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions for global positioning applications (PPP, DGNSS, RTK)
  • Perform multi-sensor fusion using GNSS, inertial sensors, cameras, and LiDAR
  • Design, evaluate, and improve sensor architectures and positioning algorithms
  • Work with large-scale, worldwide sensor datasets
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to tackle navigation and localization problems
  • Evaluate new hardware platforms and integrate them into systems

Key requirements

  • PhD with 5+ years of industry experience, or Master’s with 2+ years in Geomatics, Robotics, Computer Science, Physics, or related field
  • Strong programming in C/C++ and Python
  • Solid background in Precise GNSS and multi-sensor fusion
  • Experience with Kalman filters, least-squares estimation, and sensor fusion algorithms
  • Hands-on experience with PPP, DGNSS, and RTK positioning techniques
  • Understanding of GNSS observation models (carrier phase, pseudorange, ambiguity resolution, cycle-slip detection)
  • Knowledge of ionosphere estimation and antenna modelling (desirable)
  • Experience evaluating new sensor hardware
  • Publications in ION GNSS+, IEEE ICRA, or IEEE IROS are a plus
  • Strong analytical mindset and interest in real-world challenges
