As Service Charge Accountant you will own end-to-end service charge delivery for a portfolio across commercial, residential, and social housing sectors. You will collaborate with global delivery teams to meet client expectations, drive efficiencies, and support related property accounting tasks. The role combines on-site client engagement with technical accounting work, shaping processes and improvements. This is a client-facing, impact-driven position within MRI’s Managed Services.

Responsibilites

Own the client engagement for end-to-end Service Charge activities from budgeting to year-end
Produce compliant accounts aligned with lease terms and Technical Release 03/11
Coordinate with the global delivery team to allocate tasks and deliver on engagements
Collaborate with leadership to identify delivery efficiencies
Support other property accounting functions (AR, AP, GL)
Act as SME for complex queries e.g. VAT on mixed-use properties
Assist with onboarding portfolios from prior agents
Identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and continuous improvement
Support leadership with special projects and initiatives for Managed Services
Build client relationships and visit clients on-site to ensure high-quality service delivery

Key requirements

Comprehensive knowledge of property accounting functions
3+ years of Service Charge management across Commercial & Residential sectors
Experience with MRI solutions (Horizon, QubePM, PMX)
Strong understanding of RICS Service Charge guidelines
Previous client-facing experience
Ideal exposure to Service Charge within Social Housing
Effective written and verbal communication
Ideally pursuing or possessing a professional qualification (AAT / CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
